Royal Caribbean Complaint - Stolen Laptop
BARCELLONA -- My wife and I took a cruise out of Barcellona on August 18, 2006. We sailed on the Millenium which is under the Celebrity Cruise Line owned by Royal Caribbean. Upon arriving at the airport, my wife checked her laptop bag with the porter from the ship to have it delivered with the rest of our luggage to our state room which was the process.
Upon arriving at our stateroom, my wife discovered that the laptop was removed from her bag along with the power cord. We reported the incident immediately to the ship's personnel and a formal report was made. I also faxed a letter from the boat to Royal Caribbean concerning the incident. I did have insurance coverage from the cruise line as part of my booking package.
Upon my return to the states, I received a vauge letter from Ms. Taillefer indicating that the company would not reimburse me for the cost of the laptop. Upon getting the letter I called Ms. Taillefer to inquire as to why I would not be compensated for a theft that occured while my property was in her company's care. She indicated that the company's poicy was that they did not compensate passengers for damaged electronics. I explained to her that my laptop was not damaged it was stolen and I should be compensated for the cost of a replacement.
she was not able to resolve the situation so I asked to speak to her manager. She gave me the name and direct line number to Ms. Powell. I've called twice and left messages for Ms. Powell concerning this incident and she has yet to respond to me.
