Best Western Hotels International, Inc. Complaint - Double charged
CRESWELL, OREGON -- My husband paid for our stay with a $100 bill then the clerk told him he would need a debit/credit card also. My husband returned to the car (I was watching from the car) to ask me which one to use. He appeared puzzled and assumed that the clerk thought our $100 bill may be counterfeit. When I got home on the night of 9/8/06 I checked my bank acct and found that a charge of $80 had been applied to my debit card. I called Creswell best western and demanded an explanation and return of the $80 to my acct. I talked with the clerk who scammed my husband and he accused him of ripping off the $100. My husband is developmentally slow and accounts to me for all transactions including asking me about which card to use etc. the charges were for $81.86 but our debit was charged an even $80. All the desk clerk would say is that my husband was a thief and maybe this is how things are done in Idaho but not at his motel in Oregon. It was obvious that I would have to contact the company and file a formal complaint. I filed a complaint with Best Western and all I got was a weak apology and no offer of restitution.
On 9/11/06 I again checked my acct and found the charges were no longer pending and had been adjusted to $89.33!!!
