Acuvue Informative - Comfortable lenses - Oasys with Hydraclear plus

Review by 26128 on 2006-09-17
VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA -- I recently switched to Acuvue Oasys from Acuvue II. These are hands down the most comfortable contact lenses I have ever worn. I switched because (from what I've heard) the Acuvue II's are being phased out. After 12 hours+ of wear, I still can't tell I'm wearing them. Definitely less dryness, irritation than other brands of contacts I've worn in the past. However, like all products, there is a down side: These lenses feel like jello jigglers in your fingers. And, they tend to rip easily. But, I certainly can put up with more kid-glove handling for the comfort these lenses provide!

Have you ever considered Lasic Eye Surgery? I wore glasses since the third grade...never was able to get the right contact lenses after three tries and giving up...Two years ago I went for the Lasic Eye Surgery and it was simple, painless, I had it done on a Saturday and was driving on Sunday, never missed a days work...I highly recommend it to those who are a canidate for it. I was concerned about what I would "see" while they did it...I didn't want to see anything poking at me...but I didn't, it's strange, but all you see is dark and little streaks of light, kinda like fireworks...all you really feel though is a little pressure on the eye...If I had to do it all over again, I'd do it in a second...My eyes have exceeded 20/20 vision...didn't think that was possible, but they are.

DB, that's rather interesting. I've only worn glasses since high school. My husband, OTOH, has worn them since 8yo, and for some reason thinks the lasic procedure needs to be improved first, mainly for the reason that your eyes will still deteriorate over time. How long ago did you have it done?

Oh, I forgot, I'm corrected to 20/15 with contacts, it's just a pita to take them IN/OUT. But, much better than glasses.

I would consider Lasic or contacts but I can't see the contacts to put them in and I'm scared of eye surgery. They might cut my brain....

Lidman, you put your foot in your mouth that time mentioning your brain *lol*

Oh and to the topic at hand,I have worn contacts forever. The 1st time I got them, they only gave you one pair and the ones I had hurt my eyes so much. Years later I tried again and have worn them ever since, I wear the night and day contacts.

Emt C...they told me before the surgery that it will not stop natual aging process of the eyes...I had the surgery done because I was unable to see at a distance, they told me they can do one of two things...correct my vison so I can see at a distance and then may have to wear reading glasses for reading...or they can do one eye for farsight and the other for nearsight but then I would have night time halos around light...I went for the surgery to correct my distance and yes, I am going to have to get reading glasses...but I'd rather wear reading glasses for reading than to wear glasses all the time for everything. But at least they told me what to expect and what my choices were...they said in about five years they will be able to do lasic surgery for me so I wouldn't have to use reading glasses...and I may go for that...it's been 2 1/2 years already. They just didn't have one surgery to correct both yet.

Posted by DebtorBasher on 2006-09-18:

That Leela chick was funny, huh DB?
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2010-07-22:
Yeah...the whiners did her in :(
I just gave this almost 4 year old review it's first 'helpful' vote..LOL...and to think that some members want to have the old reviews deleted after awhile. Too bad Leela will never know how helpful she was.

BTW...up in those comments when I mentioned the Doc said I may need reading glasses at some point...I just got them two days ago. I already told you about THAT experience! LOL!

Who knows, she may be sitting at the six star table with me right now, if she was still here.
