Dell Computer Corporation Complaint - SERVICE NIGHTMARE ! - Repair Service
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- I purchased an E-310 computer from Dell on April 28 2006.In mid july the computer stopped working,it would not power on. I went online and followed the troubleshooting program that they have on their site to no avail so I called the 800 service number and they took me through the troubleshooting program again still to no avail so the person that I was speaking with determined that certain parts needed to be replaced and that he would order the parts and a technician would call and set up an appointment to install them.
A couple of days later I had not heard from the technician os I called back and was told that they would contact the technician and have him call me,needless to say no one called. I called everyday after that and always the same response.
During this two week period I asked to speak to a manager and was told that a manager would call me on at least four or five occasions and no manager ever called.
Finally Two weeks later, and keep in mind that I was calling everyday,a technician called and said that the case had been turned over to him and he would pick up the parts and come on that afternoon and install them,he did not know why the original tech had not contacted me and I agreed to stay late so that he could fix my PC.
Later that afternoon the tech called back to say that the parts were not in and I told him that I had been informed that the parts were in fact available and I was tired of getting the run-a-round and he called back a short time later and said he has the parts and he was on his way.
The tech showed up and installed the parts and the PC still did not power on.He took the modem out and the PC powered on therefore he deteermined that the modem needed to be replaced but the PC would work without it until he got the new one and put it in and he left.Actually he showed me how to install the modem and he had it sent to me
The next morning the PC did not come on and I called the 800 service number and notified them of the situation. When the modem came I put it in and nothing happened and of course I called again and after about a week the tech came and did something and the PC came on,he said that something was lose and he tightened it up so everything would be okay and he left.
I decided to leave the PC on standby instead of turning it off everyday and that was a mistake.
Ten days later I had to turn off the PC and when I turned it back on,you guessed it ,nothing happened and that was a month ago and I have called and called and got the same response, some one will call you,a manager will call you,I'll escalate your issue and the resolution team will call you.By now I'm aksing for my money back but you can probably guess what the response to that was,I was told "there is no chance of getting your money back"I finally got them to agree to replace the PC and I have been lied to,passed around from one person to another and still today Sept 27 2006 I am still waiting for my replacement.I left out a lot of details because this article is getting too long.
You can bet I will never spend another dime with Dell and I will warn everyone I know about the way they operate, personal friends and family as well as people I do business with.
