It saddens me terribly but it does not surprise me. My God, what are people in our world coming to these days? Very sad. I bet you the mother used the kids because as minors they can not be held to the same degree of legal accountability for their crimes as an adult. Juveniles treated differently than adults by the court system. Sickening it is that this mother would exploit and use her own children! Thanks for sharing it though. We as citizens need to be reminded to be vigilant and watchful as we live in this world today.

Our local news recently ran a story of a Mother who used her 10, 13 and 16 year old to shoplift over $600 in clothes and shoes...while the mother was with them...it was all on camera as the kids shoved the goods into large bags..then the Mother had the 16 year old push the cart out of the store...when the police questioned the kids, they told the police their Mother told them if they were ever caught, not to give the police their real names....

I think the parents should be charged with child abuse. The point being, they are training the kids to become criminals instead of honest citizens and therefore responsible when these young kids wind up in Juve.Hall then on to prison. Years ago I saw where a parent was pushing her grocery cart and had the child walk behind her and grabbed a carton of cigs. Acting like she didn't know what was going on. I actually saw her look back at the child when they exited the store. I mentioned it to the cashier but she just said, it happens alot and that was it. My heart just aches for these kids and their future.

I agree with all you’ve said and can only add how far does it go? “My God, what are people in our world coming to these days?” They teach little children to blow themselves up and take as many innocent people out as they can. I really don’t think you can go any farther then that?

DORCAS...there's a good chance that the cashier knows the woman who had her child take the cigs...maybe a relative, you know,,"Don't let anyone know we're related and go through my line and I'll let it go"....it happens, and it happens alot. My sister works at a grocery store and she has been looked down on by other cashiers and co-workers for reporting people going through her line shoplifting...she said she never knows if it's a "test" set up by management to see if their cashiers would report it or just turn their head and she doesn't want to get fired.

I was in the Garden Dept of one of the local K-Marts shortly after they had installed those security alarms at the exits. A woman had a very small child in the child seat of the shopping cart. As she was leaving the alarm went off and it was discovered items had been hidden in the child's clothing.

The woman proceeded to blame the child and take her her frustration at being caught out on this innocent child. It literally made my blood run cold. The cashier, a very soft spoken man, took everything under control. I had never witnessed anything like that in my life.

I suppose after reading DB's post and the other responses, these same "scums of the earth" teach their children to do the actual stealing when they get older. As far am I'm concerned these people need to be locked up and the key thrown away.

Kathy, with all respect, look over the post and responses. I don't think DB suggested anything about letting children steal.

At least not hers. Only the shame of those who do.
