Sears Informative - Long-Winded, High-Pressure sales tactics!
CORONA, CALIFORNIA -- I am looking to replace 19 windows and 1 sliding door. I am getting several estimates and today, a representative from Sears came. The other two estimates I received took no longer than 30 minutes MAX! This man took that long just to measure. Then he sat down and started this LONG scripted presentation as if he were selling Ginsu knives! I thought I was watching an infomercial! We told him that we only wanted a quote and only had 20 minutes before we put our toddlers to bed - he said that was fine.
2 HOURS LATER, he gives me a ridiculously high price quote but says I can get 10% off if I commit today! (won't the price of the windows be the same tomorrow?)
I let him know that I am getting multiple quotes the rest of the week but I will let him know on Friday. He then asks why I need multiple quotes - do I do that for all home improvement projects? I laughed and said that EVERY RESPONSIBLE PERSON gets multiple quotes for large projects. He didn't agree with that answer and kept pushing me to sign tonight! With my 2 daughters crashed out on the living room couches, and the clock striking 9:30, he finally left!!
I could not believe that SEARS would endorse such poor sales tactics, but after reading the other persons review, I know I am not the only one.
Even if they were the lowest price (which they were certainly NOT), His sales pitch made me NEVER want to use SEARS for any home improvement projects!
I apologize if THIS story is also long-winded, but I wanted to vent.
