Victoria Kia-Horrible repair service Complaint - Victory Kia-vehicle there eight weeks for service

Review by luvbeaches on 2006-10-05
RICHMOND, VIRGINIA, VIRGINIA -- Our family has a 2004 Kia Sorento and the vehicle started stalling out and then a we smelled a foul odor from the engine (like burning firecrackers). This stopped for a short time and after we got gas, the engine light came on and a really loud noise could be heard in the engine. We found a safe place to park the vehicle and called road side assistance with Kia. (They are fantastic). The vehicle was then taken to Victory Kia and they never called us to inform what problems they found with the SUV. We had to continue to call to get updates. Make this short they had the vehicle for EIGHT weeks. We pick it up on Monday 10/2/06 and the air conditioner doesn't work. Worked fine before we had it towed there. Then the engine light comes on again last night and the anti-locking braking system didn't work and the radio turned on when braking. Now Victory Kia is no longer servicing Kia's (wonder why ;) ) Does any consumer have any rights when the quality of the vehicle is lacking and the quality or lack of good service is giving? Oh, and they never gave our key back nor the service order of the work done. So, we may not have any records of the warranty work done. NEVER BUYING KIA AGAIN

I would say blame the dealer, not the manufacturer - especially since the dealer is no longer handling their vehicles. I would call Kia's US HQ and find out who the dealer is for your area and see if they can get your car back into running order.

Thank you for your feedback. I do blame the dealer. If they knew they would be closing the service department, they could have sent our vehicle to another service department. (instead of having the vehicle for eight weeks) The vehicle currently at a new dealership but, since I do not have a service order for the previous repairs, we are not sure if they will honor the work or this would be still under warranty.

I blame both the dealer and the manufacturer the engine should not have gone just after 2 years of having the vehicle. And if you have seen other postings and on the web, many others have had the same issues with KIA we are not the only ones complaining. We took very good care of the SUV and always changed the oil every 3000 miles.
