Averatec Complaint - DON'T BUY AVERATEC LAPTOP

Review by Kate42564 on 2006-10-06
CALIFORNIA -- Their service is very poor. I had my Averatec laptop just over a year (past the warranty period) when it completely stopped working. Thank heavens I had an extended warranty through another company. The hard drive and the system board had to be replaced. Now Averatec is refusing to send me a recovery CD (none was included in the box when I purchased the laptop). I have a useless computer with no operating system, no software, nothing.

I've never heard of them, but thanks for the warning.

Never heard of them, either. Where did you purchase it?

So, I'm doomed? I had an averatec (3200 series). So far it has been working well for more than one year. Am I lucky?

Don't buy any M$ expensive blue screen of death software. You can go to the Barnes and Noble and get a Linux magazine with a DVD disk and a free install of Ubunto or Red Hat etc. These include GIMP instead of Adobe Photoshop and Sun's free Open Office program and a hundred others that will save you over a thousand dollars in just the first three. FREE as in Beer, Operating system, Office, and Photo Procerssing program. And no more blue screen of DEATH whenever you miss a key sequence or burp while using the computer. Your computer is not dead or a doorstop unless you give in to the diehard purist at M$. DOMAN
