Northwest Airlines Complaint - Northwest Airlines Mishandling of Cancelled Flights in Tokyo
I'm suppose to fly back to Manila, Oct. 7, 2006 via flight NW19 7:15PM from my 2 weeks training back in AIZU. I arrived at the airport around 3:00 PM, I figure I'll have plenty of time during check-in. NWA check-in is located at 4/F Terminal 1 of Narita Airport. After getting upstairs coming from the train station, I noticed a very long que of passengers falling in line. I tried to find NWA's que, they separated Asia flights to US flights. The reason for the long que is that many NWA passengers were stranded after NWA cancelled several flights due to a typhoon near Tokyo.
After falling in line for almost 4 hours but still far away from the security check and check-in counter, my flight was delayed from 7:15PM to 9:15PM. 9 PM came nowhere near yet the security check, until the gates were closed. NWA could have sent somebody asking who are on this flight after delaying, at least know how many are still on the line.
Although their was a lot of passengers from delayed and cancelled flights, NWA failed to control the situation as many passengers went out of line and crammed the security check area. NWA did nothing to control it.
One more thing NWA should have expected the sheer volume of passengers from cancelled flights and delayed flights and prepared contingency plan for it. Unfortunately they failed on this, NWA could have started booking stranded passengers with other airlines.
This should be my last flight with NWA after this ordeal. Very poor customer service and rude attendants.
