Port Promotions Informative - Unscrupulous Helicoper/Aircraft Services

Review by kmmickey on 2006-10-07
PLANTATION, FLORIDA -- PROT PROMOTIONS located in Alaska (corporate headquarters is Plantation, FL) is unscrupulous in their trade practices and their safety for flying in Alaska. They are willing to take customers into weather conditions that are considered unsafe in the lower 48. Be very careful in your contractual obligations as they are against most of the lower 48 state laws. Alaska does not protect the consumer in the aviation business. PORT PROMOTIONS "skirts" the law. Buyer Beware, especially in the Alaskan Avaiation Business.

I can't believe they would risk your life, as they would be risking their own lives too.

My only experience says just the opposite. I can't tell you the specifics now, but on a cruise to Alaska my wife and I had an excursion booked involving a sight seeing flight tour. They waited as long as they could but felt it was too foggy to be safe, and hence refunded us.

I am a pilot and the weather was MVFR. They still went even with the ceiling below 1000' AGL. This is legal for helicopters, but not safe. We cancelled, they would not refund...or even discuss. Alaskan aviation is "notorious" for not being 'safe', because it is so important to their economy and they do take more risks.
