Any company Informative - Employers' vigilance

Employers seeking economic development incentives from the state must now verify they have no undocumented workers on staff, under a new law that took effect this week. While the measure is one of many aimed at cracking down on illegal immigration, it effectively targets a tier of companies that attracts few ineligible workers, according to area economic development officials.

People make too much of undocumented workers. Just another distraction in order to hide the real issues facing this good ole USA.

Good post Lid, and I have to agree, at least in part with Stew. Guess great minds think alike, eh?

Although Joanne Kelley is apparently speaking of her particular state it could apply to any. Small business is forced to adhere to the same regulations as large companies.

Few small companies are looking for economic development incentives from their state, they are simply trying to keep their business afloat and are spending countless hours on paperwork abiding to the new regulations required not only from their state but their friends on the federal level as well.

I appreciate a measure to crack down on illegal immigration, but why don't we put a plug on the hole at the border first and then concentrate on employers having to verify the legal status of workers?

Stew... if you think too much is made of undocumented workers, I suggest that you take a stroll through any hospital's emergency room these days. You will find it flooded with people who are there for free, basic health care, who go there because they know the cannot be turned away, and that someone else (YOU!) will pay for it for them. I, for one, am sick of it, and I welcome laws like this.

I agree with you too, Ken, so what is the answer?

Ken it is people like you..short sighted and easily manipulated.. who made it possible for the dreams of our founding fathers to become today in America. It's too bad you don't realize how lost you are. I feel for you brother.

Ken, around here the ER's are filled with poor and/or uneducated and/or people w/o health insurance for 'whatever' reason. I'm not thrilled with paying for ANYbody's bill when they decided to go to the ER with a friggin' cold.

If you feel bad for me Stew...why dont you just double up on your taxes, and help pay my share, because those 'poor people' that your heart bleeds for aren't going to pay their share. I have no problem with legal immigrants... I welcome them. I have no use for illegals, and I think the fines for those who employ them should be so high that they won't even think of using illegal help.
