Cingular Wireless Complaint - Service terminated for using as advertised
MINNEAPOLIS AND DULUTH, MINNESOTA -- Cingular is cancelling our service without notice because we used "the largest coverage area in the USA" as advertised. We were ATT Wireless customers since 1997 and switched to Cingular in July 2006. My family uses three lines, one being our daughter's. She has attended college in Duluth, Minnesota for the last two years. Cingular claimed to support coverage there, and it does work fine. Now, we received a letter notifying us Cingular was cancelling our service because more than half our minutes (since July) were "outside their network". Prior to this letter, Cingular never said one word about this limitation, even when I explained our need for coverage in Duluth. Note that ATT Wireless never complained about this for the previous two years. There was no notice that we were in "violation" (of what, I'm not sure) or provision to correct the usage pattern. We stayed with Cingular because of their promises and services they claimed to offer. I have never heard of a company "firing" a customer like this. Be very careful when you tell the CSR that you agree to their terms. Who knows, maybe you are agreeing to give them the deed to your car too. This is a great example of a large company out of control. Everyone there should be ashamed of this. I wonder if anyone there will make an effort to correct this astounding behavior.
