AAA Complaint - AAA is a Joke !! AAA fraudulent thieves
SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS -- Incident = I got a flat tire in Springfield MA. When I pulled over to change it I discovered there was no tire iron in the car so I called AAA to come with one. They showed up quickly with 4 tire irons - none of them metric (I have an 85 mercedes 300SD) The driver appologized and said this happens all the time because AAA does not required their affiliate tow trucks to carry metric tire irons - yet they gladly take the membership fee from these drivers. It was late and no stores in the area were open. I needed to get to Greenfield and I needed my car in greenfield. The driver of the tow truck suggested I have the car towed to greenfield and then file for a reimbursment for the charge since AAA should not have accepted my membership if they were not ready to support changing a metric tire. That\'s what I did. Now AAA refuses to reimburse and says that a tire iron is somehow considered special equipment and that their drivers are not required to have one on the truck. I asked them t o show me in writing where in my contract it states that they will only change a tire if the driver has a tire iron... or where it states that a tire iron is \"special equipment\". They can not. The AAA web site and all AAA materials clearly state that part of the service I pay for is to have a tire changed - and no where does it say that I am responsible for any special equipment. I feel that AAA knowingly accepts membership $$$ from drivers it knows it can not support. What\'s next? If I run out of gas will they only bring some to me in my own gas can? Volvo\'s, Mercedes, VW\'s, Saabs, etc... all need metric tire irons. AAA takes $$ from these drivers without the ability to support them on the road. The driver who came to help me had 4 tire irons - none of them were metric. AAA should pay my towing costs 100% - and immediately require all their affiliates to carry a metric tire iron - OR - cancel all memberships for owners of metric cars. Anything else is straight out fraud. So I'm out over $300 and AAA's response is that I'm out of luck.
