Home Depot Informative - Unsolicited Credit Card
INDIANA -- Last summer the business I own received a fully functioning Home Depot credit card (not just a teaser) with a limit of $5000. I was very surprised because I never applied for the card, nor did I want it. Anyone could have intercepted it before it came to my desk, but fortunately, nobody did.
I called Home Depot to cancel the card and to request that they never send me an unsolicited card again. Home Depot said their fraud division would investigate and let me know the result. That was weeks ago.
Today (10/18) I called to find out how the investigation was proceeding. I was amazed by the insulting and rude treatment shown me by their representative. I don't think she let me finish a single sentence. She was completely rude and unhelpful in every way. Then she said could not proceed without my personal information (I don't like to give out personal informantion over the telephone) and absolutely refused to connect me with anyone who could help me.
Home Depot's automated disclaimer warns that THEY may record customer calls. When I told the fraud representative that I might record the call to document that I had tried to cancel the card, she said they never allow customers to record calls, and then she hung up in my ear!!!!!!
Does this make sense? Home Depot sends an unsolicited credit card without my approval, application, or signature, but they won't cancel it or investigate it without getting my personal information over the phone!?!
I will never enter a Home Depot again, and neither will any of my employees.
If Home Depot had just kept their unwanted credit card to themselves, I would be a happy man today. As it is, my blood pressure is probably still over 200.
PS. Home Depot, if you are listening (apparently this is the only way I can communicate with you), at this point all I really want is for the credit card to be cancelled and to never do business with you again.
