Sage Advice, Inc. Complaint - Autoshipment Scam - Herbs

Review by mjc on 2006-10-20
Before I ordered the herbs from Sage Advice, I informed the owner over the phone that I did not want to receive autoshipments. I told her that the product was costly and I'd just like to try it to begin with and if I liked it, then I would order more on my own initiative. I also expressed my concern regarding the autoshipments via email to a supposed "customer service rep"--I believe the company is small and the owner poses as these different groups to make the company seem bigger than it is. I was told not to worry about it, it's "no problem" and that I can cancel at anytime. I stupidly placed an order. The day I received the order I emailed the "customer service rep" and told her to go ahead and cancel the autoshipments as we had discussed. I didn't receive a reply saying that it was a problem, so I assumed I was all set. Well, she went ahead and charged my credit card another $181.00. Not only was the charge unauthorized, as I had told her several times that I did not want to receive autoshipments, but she charged me 2 days before the cut off date for cancellations. In addition, the autoshipments are only supposed to occur monthly. I had placed my order on October 3rd, so I was all set for October, yet she charged me for this month anyway. This is such a scam. She is now refusing to refund my money and saying that she's going to continue to charge my credit card. I have placed a dispute with my credit card company and contacted the Attorney General's Office. If anyone else has had a similar experience with Sage Advice, Inc., please email me immediately.

Anytime you cancel something, you should always ask for a cancellation number. Sometimes no news is good news, but not in this situation. You can never assume anything. Cancel that credit card, so that it cannot continually be billed every month.

Also, keep copies of all correspondence. Dont' let her bully you by telling you she won't refund that money.

You might call your credit card company - get that card cancelled and get a new account. She can't continue to charge you if the account is closed.

Thanks for the replies. I'm all over it. If my cc can't get the money back, then I'll be taking her to small claims. I posted my experience so that people would be aware of this woman's tactics and just in case there are other people out there who are having or have had this problem with Sage Advice b/c I'm filing a claim with the Attorney General's Office.
