Nominations For Companies With Excellent Service in Mail Order Shopping

I tried to find a thread that would point out companies with excellent service, instead of the all-too-common terrible service. I could not find a place to run a contest for the companies with the best service. So, I decided to start a thread to nominate companies with excellent service. There are many kinds of service, so I decided to start one thread on mail order shopping.

My nominations are:

Zappos.com (online shoestore): probably the only online marketer in America that pays for your return postage if you need to return a product. The web site is much more informative than any other online shoestore (I can find out if the back heel of the shoe displays a goofy logo, or the tread of the boot will get caught in a steel grating, because Zappos gives views of all sides of the shoe). Unlike your local chain store, that has only the style that came in last week, and only the size that nobody wears, in electric green only, Zappos has shoes you love that you can't get anymore from your local faceless chain store. Shipping to the customer is charged at a reasonable rate and the shoes arrive quickly even with the cheapest shipping charge--a welcome change from the $1 item with the $12 shipping charge school of online pricing.

LL Bean: I have been ordering from LL Bean for 40 years and have never had a problem returning things, even when I did so a year later, without the receipt. Although the proportion of Chinese-made junk is higher than I would like, there is some extremely long-lasting Maine-made merchandise available. (Note to Chinese workers: I know China makes some good quality stuff, but it is all sold to the Japanese because the American store buyers just want cheap, cheap, cheap and accept lousy quality).

Newegg has some of the best cutomer service I have dealt with. Also, my wife recently ordered some tables from jcpenneys online (I didn't even know they carried furniture)and one of the tables was back ordered with an estimated ship date of Nov 8th. a few days ago I got message stating to please call them about my order and figured there was going to be some sort of problem. Well, when I called back they said they were just calling to let me know that they had spoken with the supplier and confirmed my table would be shipping on Nov 7th and hoped this was acceptable for me and thanked me for the business. This was a great change of pace for me, typically the only time I'm ever contacted about an order is when there is a problem, I was impressed they took the time to follow up and make sure I was happy with how the order worked out. I would definatley recommend them!

I've never used Newegg, but I've always heard good things about the company.
