Ronco Complaint - Sub-standard Engineering

Review by madeal on 2002-01-26
UTICA, NEW YORK -- Does the Showtime rotisserie perform as seen on tv? Sure it does.In fact I know several people that own them and we all have the same problem. After about two months of use the feet, or as Ronco calls them runners, crack in half not to mention that is also what holds the door in place.Nothing like having a hot plate of glass fall into your hands.
I e-mailed several times through Ronco.com for replacments and got no reply. Also tried calling that busy number that came with the unit.Forget it.Then I noticed on the web site under FAQ that if the runners broke within the first 6 months,(The warranty period of the product) Ronco will send you new ones for free, but you would have to pay over $6.00 for shipping and handling. Why should I pay for anything under warranty? And it cost $6.00 to ship 8 ounces of plastic? Why were the so called runners singled out on the web site anyway? Could it be that so many people have had the same problem, and now your trying to make more money off the fact that you used sub-standard plastic that can't take the heat generated by the oven.Come on RON and step up to the plate and stand by your products and there so called warrantys.Don't hide behind that big bank account of yours.

I can sympathize with your problem. In the future, I would totally avoid purchasing anything sold on TV. They usually resort to TV infomercials when products don't move on the shelves. In most cases, this is because the product is of poor quality and workmanship. Stick with the name brands for appliances -- MOST of them will honor their warranties, and stand behind their products.

I also have had the same problem. I have emailed Ronco and have gotten nowhere. I have a list of 7 other people that have had the same thing happen to them.....and the list is growing. I also was told that I would have to pay for shipping on something that was under warranty. Maybe I should have bought the George Forman Rottiserie??? Everybody I know that has one loves it and has had no problems!!! Now I am stuck with a broken one and if I want it fixed I have to pay for it. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE.
