Baume & Mercier watches Informative - Baume & Mercier Defective watch band

Review by lubucher on 2006-11-09
My husband gave me a Baume & Mercier gold watch for Christmas that cost over $3000.00. I had worn it for less than a year when my husband noticed that a small screw was missing. We were glad we noticed it before I lost watch. By this time we were living in Germany. I found a certified Baume & Mercier watch repair at Christ jeweler 50 miles away in Mannheim. They order the screw repaired it and replaced the battery. Unfortunately, the repairman must not have secured the back, because it fell off and it was lost. We took it back to Christ Jeweler but they said that Baume & Mercier in Munich would only replace the back if we paid for them to do a complete maintenance on the watch. They kept the watch for over 3 months and charged us 360 Euros. I wore the watch for approximately 5 weeks when the watch band fell apart again. We are at a loss as to what we should do with this very expensive watch that keeps falling apart. We wonder if other people have had similar experiences with Baume & Mercier gold watches.

I usually just toss my 3000 dollar watches.

Wow that's a lot for a watch. For that price I'd expect it to last 20 years without any type of problem/failure.
