Grant & Weber Complaint - Grant & Weber bad service, can't be trusted - Collection agency beware

Collection agency beware - Complaint
Review by Jimnames on 2006-11-14
CALABASAS, CALIFORNIA -- Gran & Weber bad customer service

To all, I experienced awful customer service from a company called “Grant & Weber”. This is a collections agency and boy talk about rude, these people don’t have any personality at all. They have inter personal skills to act sharks over the phone and they love to call back and start a harassment campaign. If you have an issue with them, tell them you are monitoring their calls and if you have a debt, go to merchant where the debt came from even if you have an issue with that company, report to them how bad Grant & Weber was with you, tell them you don’t trust them. If you owe something, make a small payment and dispute the debt.

They use your credit report as a weapon and they will mention your credit report in the conversion. Beware of them threatening you about your credit report and what they will do with it.

If Grant & Weber has your account, make payments to the merchant instead, however if there is a settlement offer, get it in writing and if you pay, pay with a money order and sent it certified mail only. Giving your Visa number or check number over the phone, they can take more than disputed out of it. Don’t trust Grant & Weber as this people are very hard to deal with.

I found this collection agency on the bad customer service list and reports about them online. If you have an issue with this company please notify the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint. They use bad business practices and no one should have to deal with agencies like this.

This is the company information right here:

i just got contacted by these guys last month, and have been checking to make sure that they're legit. i called their number, left a message. i got a call back within a couple of hours. the woman that i spoke to was polite and respectful when i asked for details of what they were collecting on. she mentioned my credit report only when she said that they would not be reporting anything until such and such date. when i said that i needed to check my records, she remained polite, and made it clear that there were multiple ways to pay, and how late she would be in the office that day. that was last week, and they haven't yet contacted me again.

nothing at all like Jim's experience. i'll post again if they turn ugly...

Ask for everything in writing. When I asked, they said they wouldn't send me anything of anything and told me everything is none of my business, just pay us. Polite, not with me, they were rude completely and they made statements like liar and on on arguing comments.

They use "your credit report", like they can threaten you with your information as they will mark it like a letter grade.

Beware of Grant & Weber

I just was notified by Experian that I have a "new collection" item on my credit report under "Grant & Weber". Since I had no idea what this was, I contacted them. They informed me it was from an old collection (medical) from 2003 that was resolved. Apparently they had a computer glitch that sent my information, and many others, to Experian. They were pleasant, assured me it would be resolved, and faxed me documentation stating the same. I hope they are right. If you don't hear back from me in the next couple of weeks, they must have been true to their word.

It must be who is assigned your account. I am having difficulties with this company. I have been sent to a them by a company that apparently has lost their accounts(computer glich they said. I sent a dispute letter and received a call from G&W. The representative is assuming I owe the balance with no records or proof from the company. I have my receipts--but the way it is being handled is most unpleasant.

i just spoke w/ G & W and they REFUSED to accept any amount of payment but the full amount. I wanted to pay about $20 every two weeks to pay it off and they refused to let me do so. I said that I would mail it in and the rep said that they would mail the check back to me.

Isn't this against Federal regs? Don't they have to accept any payment no matter how small?

My advice is, call the original merchant, tell them you want to settle it with them instead, evne if you have an issue with them, try to settle with them. Grant & Weber sent me threatening letters about taking me to court, when the account was new with them. My bill was a hospital bill and my insurance paid 60% of the bill but I disputed the hospital bill and where they dropped Grant & Weber when I mailed them a copy of the letter I got from Grant & Weber where the hospital took the account back and they later settled free of charge. I am glad I called the hospital and complained about they account with Grant & Weber, please do not trust these people, they are real horrible to deal with.

Grant & Weber is the worst kind of collection agency there is. They sent me a collection letter 45 days after my insurance promptly paid the St. Jude Hospital bill. They actualy insisted that I pay them for a bill that was paid and I had proof of it. These people do not do their home work. If they would only have called the hospital before they sent out an ugly collection letter they would have known the status of the debt. They did not seem to care that the bill was paid. Grant & Weber specialize in the medical field so spread the word to any medical accounting folks you know, I have. Beware, these folks come across as "being on your side" and "a kinder and gentler agency" but they are not. There work is sloppy and they shoot from the hip without having any current knowledge of your account. Do not ever respond to or pay these people! Go right to the company or hospital they say you have a debt with. Grant & Weber is sloppy and incompetant and they did not even apologize to me when I requested that they do so.
