Hertz Complaint - Why even offer reservations to pick your car?
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- I just wanted to vent my recent frustrations with Hertz. I had reserved a "green" car for my business trip. A hybrid Toyota Camry. I was quite excited to get to test out a hybrid, and the gas savings were going to help me tremendously on my trip since I was going to be doing a lot of driving.
Well I arrived at the reservation counter only to be told (as ALWAYS) that they were pretty much out of cars and all they had left was a Van. A gas gusling Van. I told them I really wanted the camry, and the Van just wasn't going to work. Well suddenly they had a camry for me, but it wasn't the hybrid kind. Though they did not tell me that, I discovered it once I actually got in the car.
I kind of feel like they used their new "hybrid" line of cars as a bait-and-switch tactic. I rented with Hertz solely because I wanted to rent a hybrid. They should take more effort to honor their reservations, particularly when they advertise their new line of hybrid cars.
To top it all off, I've had to get this camry "jumped" twice in the last 2 days! We were almost stranded last night until it finally started. I'm waiting right now for the Hertz office to open in my hotel so I can try and switch cars. Perhaps they'll offer my the Van again!
Just an update. Hertz DID end up offering me a $50 coupon that I could apply to this rental or any future rental. So that was nice of them and perhaps saved me as a potential future customer.
