Freedom Moving Complaint - Breach of Contract - Movement of household effects

Review by rustodoctor on 2006-11-16
ATLANTA, MISSOURI -- Freedom Moving & Storage (FMS) was contracted in Oct. 2004 to pack / move household effects to a climate controlled facility for later movement to permanent resisdence in another state. FMS packed items / moved them to a local storage facility. 7 months later, the mover was notified to bring the household items to Missouri and at that time it was discovered that a non-climate storage facility was used but the owner was charged for a climate controlled facility. Problems arose when after the first truck delivery, that many items were missing and damaged. It took nearly 6 weeks to get most of the items shipped. Lots of damage due to poor packing procedures and missing items were numerous. Tried to work out situation with mover but filed and won judgment against mover. Mover has refused to acknowlege judgment and owes owner over $33,000. Based upon my experience do not recommend using Freedom Moving and Storage of Atlanta, GA.

I'm very sorry to hear about your moving problems. I recently made a multi-state move that involved a few months of storage of goods using Atlas Van Lines, and expected problems after hearign tons of horrir stories about movers. It was the most pleasant moving experience I have ever had and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for movers. Not only did they arrive on the day they were supposed to, they also arranged for my professional pool table installers to be there on the same day to set up my pool table. The were a few minor things broke, but that is to be expected in any long move.

Winning a judgement is only half the battle....collecting can be a long frustrating experience. Talk with the city or county clerk and Sheriff dept on how to proceed with collection. Don't give up!!
