Pep Boys Informative - Poor Service - Tire Mount & Balancing
MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE -- On Thursday, Nov. 16th, I entered the Pep Boys in Manchester, NH to have a new set of tires mounted and balanced. Upon my journey home, I discovered that they had somehow "forgotten" to balance my tires. When I arrived home, I called and told the Service Mgr. my problem and he told me to come in the next day and they'd fix it properly. The next day I returned, waited about one and a half hours, and they said my car was done. The ride home was indeed smoother but there was still a minor vibration. I figured I could live with it, until I got on the highway. Around 55mph, my front end started to shimmy and bounce again. I called the next day, another manager talked to me and said that Pep Boys stand behind their work and that they'll make it right. The manager tells me, "just let me know when you can make it in...we'll take care of you". When I arrived, the same manager informed me that I had about an hour and fifteen minute wait. Three hours later...they finished my car, and it still isn't right!!! After speaking with yet another manager, Pep Boys is refunding me the balancing fee. I had never used Pep Boys before...and I will never use them again. The comment was made to me by a friend, who is a mechanic, that if Pep Boys dented my rims while mounting my new tires, the tires may never balance. If I discover that is the case, a lawyer will be contacting them next!
