Days Inn Complaint - Room rate/ad in paper
GREEN BAY, WISCONSIN -- Recently our local newspaper ran an ad for the Days Inn Lambeau in Green Bay Wisconsin that said for with mention of the ad you will receive 50% off a standard room rate. In small print it said 50% off standard room rate for weekdays (I was staying on a Tuesday night). I called the Days Inn Lambeau in Green Bay to make the reservation and asked what the standard room rate was since I had this 1/2 off ad. The clerk told me $69.00 so my rate would be half of that $34.50 + tax abd that I would just need to bring the ad with me. However when I checked in that clerk told me my rate was $47.00 + tax. I explained to her about my conversation with another desk clerk regarding the rate and the ad that I had, which I had brought with me and gave to her. She told me that their policy is that they give 1/2 off the standard room rate, but that it not drop below $47.00 per night + tax and that is what I would have to pay. Rather than creating a scene at the front desk in front of other customers, I gave her my VISA and checked into my room. When I got home I wrote the manager of the Days Inn Lambeau and he called me today November 21, 2006 and informed me that there was nothing that could be done, the small print clearly covers them for charging what was charged no matter what the clerk had told me when I called and reserved the room and was told 1/2 of $69(standard room rate) + tax. He refused to even discuss how misleading this ad was or give me the name of his boss. I have emailed corporate and am thinking seriously of writing a letter and submitting it to all of the newspapers in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan "Letter to the Editor" section as this ad is being run in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan newspapers in an attempt to lure then to their hotel 100 miles south in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
