Ameritech Complaint - Ameritech scameritech! - telephone service

telephone service - Complaint
Review by luzmoenia on 00--
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- I called home one day to check my messages and noticed the line ringing busy. I was immediately concerned thinking I had left the phone off the hook.
Well, once I got home and checked it appeared the line was dead. I had paid my bill so I knew it wasnt disconnected. So I call Ameritech the next morning and explain the problem. The service rep recommends I plug/unplug the phone for several minutes and make sure thats not whats causing the problem. Having already done that I suggest he send someone out to check it instead.
"Sure maam, we can have someone out there on the 14th".
Its the 9th.
"One week? Im going to be without a phone for one week?!?!"
And so it happened that Ameritech had me without phone service for one whole week. SEVEN DAYS.... COUNTEM PEOPLE!!!! SEVEN DAYS WITHOUT A WAY TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE WORLD...
Apparently they have so much trouble with their lines, so many disasters that they dont have enough technicians to check them.
Needless to say I highly dislike them. They also made a mockery of a recent Internet Street Fair when they were unable to provide service at the last minute. Hmph!
Soooo, any recommendations for a new telephone service provider? Please... anyone?

I think there might be a new provider in your area... Corecomm? Not sure, check it out...

I had the same kind of miserable experience with Ameritech and a friend told me about Corecomm. I switched online and they switched my service in five days without any work on my part. They even transferred my balance from Ameritech. My bill is cheaper and I get free internet access and 50 MB of space on their servers. The url is www.core.com Anyway, I was just so happy to find a way out from under Ameritechs monopoly that I jumped at the chance. Ive only had it for a month or two but I have had zero complaints

Try Core.com
They are a local telephone company provider that is competing against Ameritech. Nice to have competition
