Sams Discount stores Complaint - Pushed by a Sam's Club Cashier

Review by ajoh on 2006-12-04
HATBORO OR WILLOW GROVE, PENNSYLVANIA -- This past weekend my mom, sister and I were shopping for an iPod nano. We paid for the item and waited for the item to be delivered to us. As we were waiting my mother asked the cashier how long it was going to take to get the item. We had already waited about 15 minutes and were in a rush.

The cashier snapped and hit threw the divider down and hit my sister. The cashier then proceeded to push my mother in the chest. My mother then asked her to stop pushing her when this cashier started laughing and taunthing you know the Nnnnannannanannanan and again pushed my mother multiple times.

SHOCKED by this my mother went to customer service and reported the incident. The man at customer service followed us back to her and asked if she had pushed my mother and threw a divider she said yes but that it. The man at customer service said sorry and he was not going to do anything, apparently there was not manager present.

Our names weren't taken and no appology was presented to us. We finally got our Ipod but it was not in any box just in a little bag with no warrantee information or anything.

This whole ordeal was absolutlely shocking and more shocking was that someone was not reprimanded for hitting customers. We will never go back to that store again.

You should go back but take the police with you have the person arrested and sue the store.

I love that even though you paint this horrific (and decidedly unlikely) picture of abuse from an employee, you still wanted that iPod! And got an unpackaged one at that. SO not believing this happened.

Either this is not true, or there is more to this story that is not being told.

Well I wouldn't go there again.

If anybody pushed me, the first thing I would have done was call the police. I'm with heaven17 on this one.

I bought my husband an IPOD a couple of weeks ago, an early xmas gift, and it came in a tiny little box. So I don't know why you would take one that wasn't in a see thru box. And why didn't you call the police?? Please tell the whole story, k???

I will just call the police and see if bestbuy has a corporate office you can contact.

Am I missing something?? What does Bestbuy have to do with this?? Are they affiliated??

Not a true story...I'm with the others. Puched and receiving an ipod with no box or manuals?? At Sam's??? NO

I have to agree here.

Ajoh, thank you so much for sharing your story. I had contemplated going to the local Sams this afternoon after work. With your vivid description of what happened to you, I decided to bypass Sams. I fully expect to hear on the local evening news of the bloodshed at one of the registers today. Gratefully, because of your warning, I will not be there.

I think we were just shocked.... we are going to return the IPOD. I had never bought an IPOD before so I didn't know how it would come. Now I know and am going to return it immediately.

We were truly shocked and we don't like confrontation or we would have behaved differently. When we look back there may have been 10 things we would have done differently hindsight is 20-20. Blame it on stress of the Holiday season, mental condition I really don't know what else to say. The push wasn't a full out assualt or yes the police would have been called.. It was multiple ~3-4 pushes like someone trying to get a rise out of someone. My mother asked her to stop and she kept pushing and repeating what my mom said kind of like a three year old would do.

This is definately not over. I am contacting the BBB as we speak and we are going to write some letters to corporate.I just want to make them aware of what happened and they can launch their own investigation.

My family had been going there for years and prefered Sam's to the competitors but I think that is going to change now. We aren't going to sue or anything like that I just wanted to share our story in case anyone has experienced anything like that recently. The manager wasn't in the store at the time so I will write a letter to them as well.

I think as long as the store does something to assure that this does not happen again, like putting the cashier on probation and offering a sincere apology we would be fine. Also a refund on the membership would be nice.

If someone puts their hands on you and pushes you 3-4 times it is an assault and the police should have been called. I think the last line of the above post is very telling to this whole thing. There has to be more to this.

I forgot to respond to the person who asked why we still wanted the IPOD, the thing is that we had paid for it already and were waiting for someone to bring it to us. We were asking for how to get it after waiting 15 minutes when all the trouble started. She admitted actually admitted to pushing my mother several times when the customer service rep when asked her. He didn't want to do anything though b/c he wasn't the manager and of course the manager was not around. If we get her name perhaps it isn't too late to file some sort of charges with the cops. There were witnesses and there was of course the part where she admitted to pushing my mom.

Perhaps those of you who are curious about what went on should call the store and find out what their version is. In fact, I encourage anyone to do that who wants to hear the other side. Perhaps reflection on their part is the first step to preventing this from happening again. I will get you all more all the store details for you tomorrow phone number, email etc. I am falling asleep.
