NCO Financial Systems Complaint - Highly Illegal
I recived a message from NCO Financial stating "This is an attempt to collect a debt..."
(illegal: you cannot diclose debt unless speaking w/ debtor or in written mail direct to said person). So I call the # and received message "Please leave you name and SSN and will contact you during business hours" (I'm not an idiot, no msg letf). When I finally did get a hold of a live person they again asked for my ssn. Of course I refused and gave the # they had called. After only verify my name that state I owed Columbia House $89. I have never applied w/ or received and product or notice from Columbia House. I told this to the woman on the phone and got "OKthankyoubye" and hung up. That is when I started my own investigation.
Unbelieveable!! So many of the things I have heard are so incredibly illegal I cannot believe they are in business. I am no lawyer but I am also in collections, and believe me, all of the companies I have worked for over the years have fired people for less than what these creeps have done.
First of all you need no know your rights All 3rd party collection agencies are have guide lines.
FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practice Act)
It includes this like false of misleading info (stating they will tell you boss or client, will threaten leagal action when none can be taken or have no real intentions to)
If you've told them not to call you place of business they are no longer able to. If you send them a cease and disist letter they can no longer contact you by phone.
Please educate yourselve, there is so much harrassment that you do NOT have to deal w/.
Know your rights
