Umax Scanners Informative - Umax Scanner issues/customer service
KAMLOOPS -- About a year ago, I purchased a UMAX scanner. Great product - until it died after only 6 uses. Since I was slightly outside the warranty of 1 year, I bought another one. This one also died after only 10 or so uses. That was really sad. I emailed Umax, explained everything, and they responded with a form letter explaining that I could send them $100 (more than the scanner cost) and ship it to them at my expense, and they would look at it for me. I emailed them back complaining that I didn't think it should be my responsibility, given their poor product. I did not receive a response until I re-emailed them a month later, with a request to speak to his manager. I never got ahold of a manager, and he told me I was SOL basically. I will never buy another Umax product again, and I strongly suggest nobody else does either. Save the trouble and go Hewlett Packard.
