Best Buy Complaint - Canon digital camera
EVANSTON, ILLINOIS -- I bought a Canon digital camera from Best Buy (store 313 in Evanston) with a 4-year warranty on 12/09/06. The camera didn't power up. I took it back the next day for an exchange and found that the camera they sold me didn't match the serial number on the sales receipt (the serial number on the factory was yet another non-matching number). The store manager (John Gamble) examined the camera and concluded "this camera was not bought yesterday." If so, then Best Buy sold me a used, probably returned camera as new, and now refuse to exchange it or honor the warranty. I am out $350 bucks with a broken camera and no recourse! I believe that Best Buy is engaged in a criminal conspiracy to defraud its customers. And what happened to me is a perfect scam - a money-making machine. Corporate complaints " can do nothing. This is a store issue." Buy only from a small local retailer whom you know and trust.
