DirecTV Inc Complaint - DirecTV Operator LIED About New Account Pricing
VIRGINIA -- About a week ago, after doing some research, I decided to go with DirecTV.
I had called in November and was given a price of $19.99, with an incremental increase to $44.99 over two years (plus DVR and converter).
When I called in December, the price had changed to $29.99 for the first 12 months and $39.99 for the next 12 months (plus DVR and converter). PLUS a $150 cash back offer.
Different pricing, but almost the same price over 2 yrs, so I took it.
Here's where the problem started. After I was hooked up, I printed out the $150 cash back offer -- the address was given to me by the DirecTV operator. Too bad the $150 cash back offer had expired, BEFORE I signed up. I signed up in December, the offer expired November 30.
THEN I got a phone call last night from an operator confirming the price and he told me it was $39.99 for one year only. I was mad, and I said I'd call back.
I called back later in the evening, was put on hold and DISCONNECTED TWICE. Then I FINALLY got hold of a representative from the "Customer Retention" division. The I navigated to a supervisor. They admitted to me that I recieved mis-information from the first operator, but the pricing at $39.99 for the first year was final. Afterwards it goes up to $44.99!!!
WHAT? that price didn't even come up before! I tried to cancel on the spot, BUT that would be a $300 fee!! Just goes to show, get everything in print. I have no contract, and they've robbed me in plain sight, after two hours on the phone. I'm contacting the AG over this one.
