FLORIDA -- My son rented 2 xbox 360 games from our local store and his xbox machine put a ring around the games and now the store wants him to pay for the games. Can they do that? also they want $70 per game! i just bought 1 of those games at walmart for $40, any info you can give would help. they also told him he would not be allowed to rent from them till the games were paid for.

It all depends on what the agreement your entered into when you rented the games. Does it state $70 for a damaged game? Also Is the damage physical, as it will no longer work or is it cosmetic?

i have had an account with them for 10years at least so i dont remember what the agreement was.and the game can still be used, he didnt have any problems with it the whole time he had it. which was 7/8 days

If you can buy them cheaper online or wherever, I would simply do that and put the undamaged games in the box and return them.

You could offer them proof that the game is only worth $40.00 and buy a used one from them. Or cut your card up in front of them, pay there "fine" and let it go.

i may just do that lidman! i was thinking of taking the game i just bought and exchanging it for the "damaged" one but it will be after christmas since it is already wrapped! they didnt even ask to speak to a parent (he's 14) they just told him he owes the money- and it's not like we damaged them on purpose!

why would you not be responsible if your machine damaged the games?
