Best Buy Complaint - Out of stock? - XBox accessory
GERMANTOWN, MARYLAND -- Yesterday my son went to the local best Buy to purchase an accessory for his Xbox360. On the rack are 4 of the item. The department clerk told him that if he ordered the same item online it would be $30 cheaper. So my son calls me and has me order it online. After going through the entire ordering process including selecting store pickup I wait for the first of two emails. The first email is to provide a confirmation of the order. The second is to say the item is ready for pickup. The first email arrives in 5 minutes. I phone my son with the confirmation number and he goes to the cashier. Without even looking at the number the item is scanned. The price comes up at the online price even though the order number was never entered. My son pays cash and calls to let me know he has it. By this time the second email arrived. Not in stock at the very same store he just bought in from. I called my son to tell him this and he goes back inside to look at the rack. 3 are still there. He goes to the customer service desk to cancel the online order because the order is already charged to the credit card. Can't do that in the store he is told. Can't cancel an order online either. Calling the toll free line was a waste of time because I waited close to an hour on hold before it disconnected. The worst part of that was the awful music playing over and over. Sort of like being stuck on Small World at Disney. According to the second email if the item is not picked up within 8 days the order is canceled and the card is credited with the purchase price. I certainly hope so. This tells me that whomever looks at the online orders in this store probably didn't want to be bothered with looking up the item. Just for giggles I called the store this morning and asked if they had the item. Got three of them was the response. I ask how could they find it so fast? Right here on the inventory screen he said.
