Thompson Compliment - Easy cancellation of "Cigar Club Membership"
My mom, bless her heart, purchased a club membership for my husband as a Christmas gift. When the gift was opened we all thought it was a lovely cigar sampler case, which it was. But then I read the invoice and it said "Your next club order will process the week of 01/30/07." This sounded very expensive - and she really isn't in a position to be that extravagant. So I placed a call today to Thompson & Co to see if 1. They would tell me what this order entails, and 2. How much does it cost?, and 3. Would they let me cancel? I really expected a struggle because I am not the purchaser, nor the recipient. So I spoke to Leah and explained the reason for my call - she confirmed my suspicions that this was an ongoing order that would cost my mother $39.00 every seven weeks indefinitely. I am thinking $39.00 for the rest of her life is definitely too much. So I asked if it would be possible to have my husband call and get this gift cancelled. Leah replied that she already took care of it just then. I really do appreciate her help in this. They really could have made it difficult by demanding that my mother make the cancellation, or even my husband, but they did it at MY request. Nice change.
