Radisson Complaint - Extra fees assessed upon hotel check in - Service Fee added to hotel stay

Service Fee added to hotel stay - Complaint
Review by lookster on 2007-01-11
ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- I recently booked a room through Priceline for Orlando, FL. The Radisson accepted my bid and the contract was created, when my credit card was charged. When I checked in, I was required to sign a form stating that I understood I was required to pay a $10.00 "service fee". I do not think it is fair to accept a "contract" then require the guest to pay additional fees when they check in, especially if you have to try to find new accomodations if you do not want to pay the fee. This is very similiar to the old fashioned "bait and switch" mentality. This is a very disappointing policy in consumer relations.

What did Priceline have to say about this? I would think Priceline's agreement with the hotels would not allow this.

I would definitely take this back to Priceline and have them duke it out with the Hotel. I've stayed in a lot of hotels in the Orlando, FL area over the years and it wouldn't be the first time I heard of some odd Misc. fee showing up on a bill.

lookster, I think Radisson pulled a fast one on you and I would call priceline. I have had the same thing happen to me at other hotels but never new it until I got the bill. Now though, if you say you will not pay it when you check in and you are moving to another hotel then you lose your money you paid to priceline or whom ever you used. I now go direct to the airlines, rental car companies and the hotels. You can usually get the same deals and sometimes-even better.

What additional service was it you were paying for? I would go ahead and pay with a CC then dispute later with print-outs of the Priceline bid.

Priceline is a Wholesaler...they buy rooms from hotels at a discount and resell them. If you booked through anybody other than the hotel directly it's the responsibility of whomever you booked with to tell you about any other fees the hotel charges that aren't included with the room. Complain to Priceline about it.
