Wellington Court Apartments Complaint - Complaint - Electrical Outlets

Review by Patti67 on 2007-01-13
DECATUR, GEORGIA -- This is an apartment complex. The quality of service is terrible. The maintenance staff aren't dependable and very slack on their job. The apartment manager gets stressed out and very defensive when you report problems in your apartment. She doesn't care as long as it doesn't affect her. She has used money for the complex to fix up her apartment while the tenants' apartments are in bad condition. The grounds of the complex are not maintained, when it rains the hallways of the complex get flooded. My apartment has been without heat or air for a couple of months. I have been here since Feb 06 and my outlet in the Master bedroom has been shortening out since then. I currently use extension cords to run power from one area of the room to the next. I consistly complain and it hasn't been fixed. I don't advise or recommend this apartment complex to anyone. I hope they get inspected from housing and made to fix the complex or shut it down.

If you can prove the manager is using funds to fix up her own place then report it to the management company. Why haven't you complained to the housing commission in Decatur? For the same effort to complain here you could have filed with the commission. A shorting power outlet is a fire hazard so call the fire marshal as well. It's been close to a year and you've relied on an manager you know is unresponsive.

One other suggestion: If your lease is up or if it's already month to month - move out.

She's only the manager. Who owns this place? It is up to them to maintain the place. Move out, and try to buy a house. Paying rent every month is paying someone else's mortage and you never build any equity of your own.

The extension cords are probably a bad idea. If you moved in in February 2006 and signed a year's lease, it is time to move!

I must agree with all post and I think it's time to MOVE! Good luck to you

I had a similar situation. The roof was leaking - kept contacting the office but just got excuses. When I moved ( a bat got in my apt thru the hole), the management office tried to make me pay for repairs. Good thing I had pictures and dates/names of the office staff that I had talked to.

This info plus a comment like "I'd hate to have to report this to the housing authorities" may work wonders....
