Etronics Complaint - USED Merchandise - Sony

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK -- I orderded a Sony digital voice recorder from Etronics last OCT through Amazon.com. It did not ship for 3 days and after I finally recieved the package the recorder had been already cut open. They had made a half ass attempt to RE-wrap it with some packing tape. I emailed them the next day and their response was "We open ALL merchanise to make sure all the parts are there".
I could not believe it!!! What kind of retailer OPENS a sealed blister pack before the customer gets it????? Then I had to PAY for the return shipping. I cancalled the order and it took a month for them to credit my charge card. I will NEVER do business with these crooks again!
I did not even try the recorder. I do NOT buy used merchandise. Would you buy a hard drive or some other electronic device that was already open???

Did the voice recorder worked? I have ordered 2 car stereos from Etronics and both products worked flawlessly. I still shop with Etronics.com because they have the best prices in car stereos.

MRM, just curious, were your car stereo's opened?? I have never used that website, but wondering if if happened to you?

When I receieved my car stereo, it was in a cardboard box and it was not shrink wrapped or taped sealed. Thats how it is packaged. All the contents were in the box and most importantly, the car stereos worked fine. By the way, one of the car stereo that I bought has a 3' LCD screen and has a built in TV/DVD and I got it for $260 compared to circuit city ($399) with the same features. This car stereo rocks!
