Rockaway Bedding Complaint - Rockaway Bedding Sells Defective Bed

Review by turbotom1 on 2007-01-20
SMITHTOWN, NEW YORK -- I paid $1000 for a Serta Perfect Sleeper Whittingham and notice the very first night, we sank and both found ourselves in a canyon in the middle. We had to grab the sides and pull ourselves out !. I called the store and they stalled us for days with stories of how the bed just had to get used to us. The problem worsened and they refused to take the bed back and offered us a different brand or another Whittingham for a "$300 service charge". My G/F wound up in the hospital with back pain from sleeping in the sink hole in the middle of the Serta Whittingham.

They did come and look at the bed and measured it without anyone on it, naturally it passed their unsprung weight visual test.

Isn't your complaint really with Serta?

That must of been some major back pain your girlfriend ended up with. Is she still in the hospital???

Is she in Good Samaritans hospital, in West Islip>? I think that's really suckful what happened to your bed. Agree with emt, complain to the manufacturer, the store was only the middle person.

Rockaway bedding is no more, they went into liquidation. Now Sleepys owns them.

Agree with previous post; the retailer is just the middle person (although Serta does tell you to deal with them directly).

I have a similar problem with mine, only my "canyons" are where the two of us sleep, on each side of the bed. There are other smaller craters (from what, who knows) that have appeared sporadically across the bed.

The store where I purchased my Serta is now owned by someone else also. I've contacted Serta but have absolutely no confidence they'll do anything. I ordered a Spring Air -- have another one in my house that has stood the test of time for over 10 years and is still the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on.

Serta products are terrible.
