Weiss Memorial Hospital Complaint - Violation of Patient Rights

Review by sdogv on 2007-01-23
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- A patient for 37 days, **name removed** with a living will clearly stating, "no CPR, no intubation or ventilator" was forcibly intubated several times and on 2/13/04 wrote (a paralyzed vocal cord) "This procedure can wait for a few minutes or hours until my spouse and I see the docs. IT'S NOT OK - NONE OF IT!"... She died shortly after and given unsuccessful CPR.

Neither doctor, hospital, or staff responded to my queries about their "practices". Over two years following.

Obviously, it is all about money.

Here in the state of Virginia, a living will will NOT prevent these things from happening. The patient must have a valid DNR order (Do Not Resuscitate).
