Freecreditreport.com Complaint - The run around - Credit Report

Credit Report - Complaint
Review by Thisisit on 2007-01-23
ALAMEDA, CALIFORNIA -- Last week I requested a free credit report and they keep saying to me after 6 calls and speaking with them live that it will take 10 minutes to recieve my password and log on info, and its now 4 days later. I gave them all of our credit info and now we are worried that this is a scam. Can you please help us.
We used the info on there site for the request:

I have not worked with this particular company, but they advertise all over the place...did you check to see if the email they sent you with your password went into your Junk or Spam folders? (I'm assuming that they were going to send you that info via email...?)

It's not a scam, but I hope you realize that you signed up for a credit monitoring service by requesting your free credit report. I would try calling or emailing them again to let them know you didn't recieve your password and logon info.

Oh yea, forgot about that. If you want your credit report truly for free without signing up for any kind of service, I think that the site you want to use is www.annualcreditreport.com

Emt_c is right. I've seen these commercials all over TV. They have very fine print at the end that states you are automatically signed up for some monthly service at like $19.99/month or something like that. You can cancel, but probably not fast enough to stop them from getting that first charge on your card.

Yep, you signed up for their service, not just a free credit report.

You went to the wrong website, freecreditreport.com. The website you're looking for is annualcreditreport.com which gives you reports for free without signing for any kind of service.

Freecreditreport.com is not a scam, but it does require enrollment in TripleAdvantage (pay service). Don't worry, your credit info should be safe, but unfortunately you're out at least $20.

Whatever you do, do not email your ssn to them while corresponding. Email is not safe for confidential transmissions.

Free credit report complaint, Did you know that Freecreditreport.com isn't free at all but you can get your report free each year from all three agencies one report each year. It's a gov. site and if you put in Free annual credit report, I believe the site will come up. I just pulled mine a while ago. No charges. If you want to get your credit score that is an additional charge. Freecreditreport.com charges a fee for their service but allows you to check your reports more than once a year.

Equifax has a credit reporting service (for a fee) that alerts you if you or anyone in your family has taken out a new card or made a % change higher than expected or if there are any changes at all. It is worth the money to subscribe for peace of mind, if that situation applies.
I noticed when I once tried to get a credit score for "free" that after I put in all the information I never got the score. I was asked to join a service.
