Robinson Executive Group, Inc. Complaint - Job Seekers Beware - Advertising Sales Promotion

Review by Used on 2007-01-24
AUBURN HILLS, MICHIGAN -- The Robinson Executive Group, Inc. (also Boss Advertising) advertises that they are looking for entry level account executives. You go for a sham interview (mine included myself and another candidate) and are told you will be contacted to begin work on a "shadowing interview" for which you will be paid. This "interview" consists of walking (mostly) and driving around a certain territory observing how the product
(similar to the Entertainment Book of coupons) is sold door-to door. You are even going into businesses that have "no soliciting" on their doors. After this, you will be hired if the employee whom you've been shadowing feels you are going to be good.
For some reason, I was not found to be good even though I was game but was not dressed appropriately for hiking. When I wrote to the company a week or so later to ask for my pay, I received no response.
This company continues to advertise for the same crappy treatment. I would like future candidates to know the scoop up front. Don't go unless you can afford to waste your time. If you are "hired" you'll be paid only by the amount of coupon books you sell. If you do get called back for the second phase, wear walking shoes and be prepared for inclement weather.

geez... I'd be sending them flowers and thanking them for not hiring me. You'd really want a crappo job like that?

You had to realize you were wasting your time well into your first hour "on the job." Next time, follow your instincts, quit and place "phantom orders" for pizza to be delivered to their door.

Hon you didn't want a job with a company like that; I would think once you were in they probably treat you a whole lot worse. However, I would keep hounding them for your pay. Good luck.

THIS COMPANY IS AKA "CAUSE MARKETING SOLUTIONS". have been desperately seeking work. That is the only reason I tried to get a job with the company. After I saw what the job really entailed, I was only truly interested
in getting paid. I also reported the company(ies)to the BBB.
Thanks for your comments.

Complete waste of my time even showing up for the interview but your post saved me another day wasted. After reading your post I called the company to verify the information and they confirmed everything you had said. I cancelled my "shadowing" experience/2nd interview - such crap anyway - and made it very clear that I wasn't interested in a position of that sort. Very disappointing, though, to go on an interview and be played with like that.

I forget, they've now added the name "Pounder". I find that amusing because you will be pounding the pavement.

I loved this marketing company. I hate coming to these sights because most of the people who complain on these sights don't like to work no ways.Companies like boss actually challenges us to do what our fore fathers have done and more. Many people want a desk job at Ford and complain about that and not to include they are not hiring mostly because of people who really don't want to work and get a big check that they didn't hardly earn. If you are a person that wants to be in business and you have a heart to be a legit millionaire places like Boss and Rockland International area businesses you should plant yourself into. I have worked for both of these companies and the skills they help you develop is awesome and can help you later on in life. Many people don't like challenges and feel as if when they reach a certain status they are above work. Never be like that. My suggestion check them out. Your going to love them. They are nice people. You are going to have to work hard. But, even being in a relationship is hard work.
