FROZEN, CALIFORNIA -- I just wanted to comment because I'm surprised to see all the negative remarks about Claim Jumper pies. Their pies have been uniformly terrific. The lemon meringue tastes better than the average fresh one in the bakery of a market. The peach, key lime, and pumpkin are excellent. I think the last peach one I had wasn't very good but I assumed it was something I did, because they were very good every other time.

I don't think I've tried some of the varieties. I would be afraid would be too sweet, like turtle, but I'm looking forward to trying the cherry with the crunch top, assuming that's a new one and not just some discontinued variety that showed up. I wish they would add their carrot cake to their frozen line. I haven't had it because there isn't one of their restaurants near me, but I suspect it would be as delicious as their pies.

GEORGIA -- A few years ago I discovered your Claim Jumpers frozen pot pie - OMG best pot pie ever! I've had it a few times and then it disappeared from my supermarket. I was devastated and have not been able to find where it is being sold. I am in Georgia zip code 30620, although that probably doesn't matter. Is this product no longer available?

NORTH HILLS, CALIFORNIA -- I got a frozen Claim Jumper pumpkin pie... cooked, looked good, but... the crust was awful, crumbly, tasted just bad. I tried to help in out with whip cream but it didn't help.

Beware of foreign objects in your food!

TUKWILA, WASHINGTON -- On Saturday, February 4th, 2006, while enjoying a rare night-out with the family, our daughter discovered a used food handler's glove in half of what was left of the gravy served on her "Goldrush Chicken." There is nothing that can describe the sinking feeling that comes over a parent when they see their child exposed to this type of reckless endangerment. Finding that used glove in the gravy put an abrupt end to our meal.

We called the manager to our table. Yes – the entire meal was comp'd. The manager apologized for the error, offered us free desserts, and said the chef had been alerted and full report prepared for the corporate office. These are basic customer service consequences that would be expected in such a situation. However this does not change the fact that the glove somehow found its way into the gravy.

Somehow that glove was missed by the person serving the gravy in the kitchen. The line manager missed it when the plate was put up for delivery; the room server, and the waitress all missed it. In the dim dining room light, our daughter thought it was melted cheese - until she snared it with her fork.

No doubt, the report to corporate included statements like – “We were very busy,” “There were many orders in process,” “The glove was immersed in the gravy and was similar in color.” These are nothing more than excuses - excuses that reinforce a disregard for customer health and safety. This restaurant is ALWAYS busy and there are always many orders in process. It behooves all restaurateurs to ensure that their employees are adequately trained in food safety and consistently use safe food-handling methods – this includes proper disposal of used gloves and inspecting plates prior to delivery to the customer.

We will be watching our daughter very closely over the next couple of weeks to ensure sure she does not display any sign of illness. So buyer beware - check your meal as soon as it arrives to ensure there are no surprises being served with your food. We will never eat at Claim Jumpers again.

Watered Down Blackberry Pie

I bought a frozen BLACKBERRY PIE, made by Claim Jumpers, the first week of October 2011. When I got home I saw on the front of the box it said 100% MARIONBERRIES. But the box was labeled Blackberry pie. I did not know what a marionberry was. I thought I was buying a Blackberry pie. I had to look it up.

A marionberry is the most common type of Blackberry in the US. So I pre-heated the oven to 400 degrees, as per the directions. Made 4 holes in the top for venting. In the oven it went. After baking for 75 minutes, as the directions said, I was ready to pull it out. The top was bubbling. The outside crust was brown. Let cool for 3 hours (per direct). When I cut into it there was more WATER in it than berry. I feel I got taken...**

Complaints to a Dead End

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- I purchased two different entrees by the Claim Jumpers Retail Foods, Inc. One was the chicken and shrimp penne rustica. The other was roast turkey breast with dressing and broccoli. Having eaten at several Claim Jumpers restaurants and knowing the size and goodness of their servings, I felt I was in for a good meal. WRONG! The photos on the package should bear the disclaimer that the contents do not represent the package contents in any way.

The shrimp (of which there were TWO) were the size of a nickel and just about as eatable. At first I thought they had left out the shrimp entirely until I lifted a piece of the "penne" and there they were. As for the turkey, it was O. K. except the dressing could not be eaten. Anyway I tried to e-mail the web site listed on the package only to be told it was no longer in service. So I wrote a letter to the address on the container. It was returned as "not deliverable". I called a phone number listed as Claim Jumpers Retail Inc. Yes you guessed it, "the number you have dialed is no longer in service". So here I'm writing to anyone about my experiences.

Thank you, Claim Jumpers

TUALATIN, OREGON -- On Thursday, Oct. 1st, I was part of a group of about 10-11 people who met up at the Claim Jumpers for food, drinks and general socializing. We got there around 2:30 with the intention of ordering off of the Happy Hour menu. Due to the size of our party the staff put together several tables in the main dining area so we could all sit together. Unfortunately, that meant we couldn't get any of the Happy Hour specials since they were available in the bar area only. The tables in the bar area were unable to be re-configured so moving to the bar would have meant splitting us up into smaller groups which would have cut into the socializing.

After asking our server if there was any way to get the Happy Hour prices due to our large party, she sent over the manager who agreed to make the exception. We wound up spending almost three hours there having appetizers, drinks and desserts and had a wonderful time. The food was really tasty and the staff was very friendly.

SUNNYVALE, CALIFORNIA -- Had tried the Claim Jumpers Pumpkin Pie-5 Stars Good flavor and the crust is like Grandma's homemade. So I thought I'd try the Dutch Apple for Thanksgiving. It comes with a mixture of sugar/spices you add in the last 10 min of baking. Wow it is sweet. Great pie crust, apples, but if you get it, use about half of the sugar/spice mix.

I Have Never Tasted Better

TACOMA WA. -- I am 82 yrs old and have been a gourmet cook for 40. I have avoided TV dinners because most I found them to be bland and unappetizing. When a friend recommended Claim Jumpers I tried the turkey and can honestly say it's far superior to any TV dinner I have ever had. My wife and I have one every Tue. It is delicious and couldn't be improved on. Your pot pies are also the best ever. Keep up the good work. We appreciate good food.
