Freightliner Corporation Informative - Labor costs?
News Flash: LandLine Magazine, January 29, 2007.
Freightliner will layoff 2000 workers due to the inability to sell their trucks at the higher price due to higher costs imposed by the almighty DEQ. But, guess what? They are building a $300 million dollar plant in MEXICO. So, they are going to put 2000 people out of work in this country so they can go to MEXICO, build the same truck for a substantial decrease in labor (building costs) and bring it back here and sell it for the same INCREASED price. Who gains from this??? Of course, Freighliner is the only "gainer". They can go to Mexico, Taiwan, Korea, China, wherever they want to, build a product for substantially lower labor costs, bring it back to the USA and sell it for the same price as if it was built here. And, they do it all with the Blessing of the people of the United States. Why do I say the people bless this type of action?? Because, the first thing I am going to see from this is: "They (Freightliner) have a right to make a profit." That is true. That is why they are in business. But, why should we, as a nation, turn our country into a "third world" country just so some "mongrol" can make another 25 mil, while the people that are actually putting that money in his pocket are still starving, and living in squaller conditions.
