Review by bravo on 2007-01-30
MY BROTHER IN LAW HAS HIS CAR FINANCED WITH THIS COMPANY AND IN DECEMBER WE ALLOWED HIM TO USE OUR ACCOUNT TO PAY THAT MONTHS BILL. IN JANUARY THEY DEBITED OUR ACCOUNT AGAIN SAYING WE AUTHORIZED IT WHICH IS COMPLETLY UNTRUE, WHEN I SPOKE WITH THEM ALL THEY HAD TO SAY WAS THIS IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS, HOW IS THAT SO WHEN ITS MY ACCOUNT THEY DEBITED AND I DON'T EVEN HAVE AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM, NOW THEY ARE CALLING MY HOUSE AND BEING VERY DISRESPECTFUL.AND WHEN I TOLD THEM ALL I WANTED WAS AN APOLOGY THEY SAID THEY WERE NOT GOING TO GIVE ME ONE.HOW POOR CAN BUISNESS BE, AND THIS WAS A MANAGER THAT TOLD ME THIS. MY THING IS TREAT OTHERS HOW YOU WANT TO BE TREATED.

Debit card strikes again?

More like Brother-In-Law strikes again.

You are well within your time frame to put a reversal on the withdraw. Contact your bank and put an unauthorized return on the item. Of course, that means your brother-in-law's payment would be considered returned dishonored and all the nasties that goes with it. Maybe you need to speak to your b.i.l. and see if HE didn't in fact pull one on you and give permission for the second pull.

You opened the gates when you gave them authorization to debit your account. There is no such thing as a one-time permission. This is the reason that you should *never* give your bank account information to any creditor, but rather you should initiate the payment yourself from your bank's online web site. That way, they get paid but they never see nor have any access to your accounts.

Ken is right. There is no limit to permission on access. Plus, your BIL may have agreed to automatic payments, etc. Your BIL is a big boy and should handle this and get you out of it. He needs to fix the issue and you should cancel your debit card # if that's what was used.
