McCarthy Wholesale Complaint - Bad business practice

Review by jlero on 2007-02-07
After a successful first purchase, I recently returned to McCarthy's Wholesale in San Luis Obispo, CA, and purchased a car there (or so I thought). After agreeing on a price, shook hands with salesman and was looking forward to picking up car the following morning. Told all my friends and family about my new 'hybrid'. A message was left later in the evening stating that the car had been sold to another shopper, "Sorry, nothing we can do". Spoke with manager the next day, asked him how this could happen, or why, and that to make it right, all he had to do was locate a comparable car and sell it to me at the same price. No call, no apology, and guess what... no more business from me.

Did you put money down on this car or sign a contract?

Where in the story is the part where you bought it by signing a contract and putting down a deposit. It's frustrating I' sure, but how can anyone not understand no dealer is going to pass on a buy now deal because someone else said they'll buy it tomorrow first.
