Ultimate Shopping Network Complaint - No merchandise received, no credit given - Jewelry orders

Jewelry orders - Complaint
Review by diamondgirl on 2007-02-13
CALIFORNIA -- On 10/04/06 I ordered by phone from this jewelry television network two rings at the total cost of $2698.00. I waited the two to four weeks I was told for delivery. After 4 weeks I started calling and was told 10 more days. It is now Feb.12,2007 and no rings and no credit on my chg. card. They keep telling me I was credited on 11/17/06 but my credit card people know nothing of this, I am still being billed.

Its funny that the company is so quick to charge your credit card but too slow to give you credit.

There are at least two complaints against USN posted here on a weekly basis. Always the same: no merchandise and no credit issued. I wonder if the FTC knows about this.

I wonder if the cable companies and the satellite providers realize that this channel they are carrying is doing this to so many people?

Call the credit card people and tell them you are disputing the charge. They usually credit your card immediately and contact the seller. If the merchandise does show up then the charge will go back onto your account.

I don't know how much good that will do, Noneill. You can dispute the charge, but USN will no doubt have records of the order itself - that's all they need to produce to validate the charge. You know, I worked at FedEx a while back, and there were many incidences of the freight carrier (i.e. FedEx) targeting specific shippers for theft. Maybe USN customers are being robbed blind by the freight supplier. Just a thought. Either way, whenever I order anything from home, I always pay extra for signature-required delivery. That way a dispute with the credit card company holds more water.

I was told almost the same STORY way back last year, after calling so many many times I was told it had already been credited to my Mastercard, it never happened. I at times thought I was the one going nuts. This is a pattern that has been happening for many months with this company to everyone it seems who has placed an order in I would guess at least the last 10 months probably more. They disappeared off the TV in January but still have the web site where I am sure they will still take money from unsuspecting customers. I sent letters and complaints to many places but got no help so far from anyone. I am thinking of calling the cops as this seems to be fraud I have no clue who else to complain to anymore. Better Business Bureau closed my file after no response from USN way back, the Attorney General of my State sent back a letter telling me how to deal with spam !!!! (talk about passing the buck) a web site with attorneys who look at your problem and contact you via the web have not replied !! so if anyone can tell any of us who we call lets get the thousands of people ripped off calling that number.

millymolly, did you contact your credit card company to see if they can get you a refund, I did, just got my Visa credited this week for both items i ordered. The only problem is I received a letter from my CC Co. saying that "if the merchant provides information proving that the charges are valid, the charges will be put back on. I hope they don't have a fake way of trying to prove something that isn't true, such as they shipped it out on so and so date when they didn't. I have no paper work to prove anything, this was all done by phone of course, the only time you get any paper work at all is in the pkg. with the mdse. My cr. card people also asked me for documentation regarding this case, how can I have documentation when everything was verbal on the phone. I have dates I called USN thats about all. If they put these charges back on, then I will have to get an attorney. I am out over 2,700.00 if this happens and I can't handle that.

Just wanted to let you all know that I finally got a letter form the Attorney General Office in California, good thing my credit card refunded my money because they can do nothing for me because they said the company is out of business. Boy, they sure did cheat a lot of customers out of money and obviously will get away with all of it. I cannot believe no agency out there can't do anything for the poor people cheated out of thousands of dollars. It was suggested to me by Calif. Att. Gen. to hire a private attorney, well, luckily I don't have to now, I hope all of you out there who were cheated do though, although I don't know if it would be worth the cost, also if USN is bankrupt, how can an attorney possibly collect? I still think it is up to the FTC to control what kind of programs we are seeing. Who would think for one minute you couldn't trust a home shopping network. We are all used to QVC,HSN,SHOPNBC they are all great networks.
