Spring Air Mattress Co. Informative - Mattress Quality

Review by badmattress on 2007-02-18
I purchase a spring air mattress - four seasons a firm king size mattress. After a year body indentations started to show up. 6 Mths ago spring air sent a
representative from consolidated bedding to inspect the mattress. The inspector found 4.5 Inch deep body indentations where my wife and i sleep. He said we
definitely have a case. Two weeks later we received a letter stating that the warranty was voided due to a small water stain in the corner.

The mattress springs extremely failed and my aching back is paying for it. It a shame such a reputable company decides to screw the consumer.

It might be worth the filing fee to try your hand in small claims court - it would be interesting to see how they would explain to the court how a small water stain on the corner could migrate to the center of the mattress and make it sag by over four inches.

Was part of the mattress warranty that you needed to have a mattress cover on this mattress?? That's where I think the trouble is stemming from. I know it sounds crazy, but we just bought a new mattress and box spring last November, and to keep the mattress warranty from being voided, part of our responsibility was to make sure the mattress had that cover on it. It's on our paperwork, what does your warranty paper work explain??

**Damage to mattress fabrics due to soiling, stains, or burns**

Taken from what the mattress warranty does not cover. Your water spot is a stain, and it's why they won't honor your warranty. It's all in the link I provided.

Good point about the cover Skye, but I still think they might have a case with a 4.5" indentation - he's not trying to get a cover replaced, he wants the sag corrected. I'm sure he would gladly accept the same cover back as long as they fixed the sags.

Thanks Hugh, I should of addressed that sag issue. That's a shame they are going to use the "stain" as a loophole to void the whole warranty. Shame on them.

I too purchased a Spring-Air Pillow Top for $1000. The furniture store swapped out the first set due to deep indentations. The second set was worse, my back has paid the price over the years and I plan to buy a Simmons Beauty Rest with my tax money. Stay away from SPRING AIR!

I had a similar thing happen with a different mattress company and took the case to the BBB. It went all the way to an arbitration meeting and I thought it was clear in the meeting that the warranty wasn't void with the stain since it didn't say that and that they would award me something. I was shocked when the decision came back that found in favor of the mattress company and am convinced the BBB isn't as unbiased as they claim since this company was a BBB member. My advice is to not use the BBB but I am not sure of other more fair options.

I have had the same issue with Spring Air. Mine is a small milk (formula) stain on the side at the top. Our mattress has horrible sag and my husband and I end up squished in the middle every night. Our mattress also squeaks and nothing we do fixes it. I will never use Spring Air again. It's a shame that they use that to void the whole warranty when their product has failed miserably.

sagging mattress...i cannot believe that this mattress company is getting away with this!!!Everyone after a short amount of time gets some sort of stain on their mattress!!! They use it as an excuse so not to address the real problem that they have a shi..y product!! I am fuming! They measured our indentation but said it wasnt enough ...by the time they came back to remeasure and agreed it was a bad indentation my son spilled something so they said now it isn't covered. they suck....what should we all do?
