Social Security Office (Greenville County) Complaint - SS cards - Issuing my daughter's SS card

Review by lil fred on 2007-02-24
GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA -- Well, first of all I would to say im very angry about the service and response that i received from the ss office of greenville. I called to see if my daughter's ss card had come in yet. and the rep. i spoke with said, it takes 2 to 4 weeks to receive it. Well further explained to her that I have been waiting that long, and she well it could take longer. At that point i was very angry, she then put off on the health dept. saying we have to wait for verification from the before we can issue her a ss card. She then got really rude and unprofessional, and was not concerned with the problem i have had with getting a ss card for my daughter. I then called a friend at the health dept., and she told me that the ss office hasn't yet sent over any paperwork for my daughter. So then i called the ss office back, and spoke with someone else, and she then told me that the rep. that processed my app. for the ss card wasn't their yet and that he would call me back, and as figured he never did.So my compliant is that we depend on our government to supply us with the information we need throughout our lives and they act like total morones, and treat us badly. Its really ashame that we are hard working citizens of this country and get treated in the manner that we do, considering the fact that we work to have social security and cant be treated with the respect and dignity that we ourselves offer to our fellow americans. Why have a government, our this case a president who cant control things any better than this. We hear promises being said, but no action is taking place,WHY?.Why should we deal with such confusion, and that person just blames it on the next person. Our government needs some adjustments, including the white house as well...
If we all step up and do our job, why cant our government do theirs.

What kind of verification does the health dept have to provide in order to get a S.S. card?

I'm with PassingBy, here. Why would the health dept be involved?

The Department of Public Health is responsible for Vital Records which includes birth certificates. At one time a copy of ones' birth certificate was a requirement for a SS card, who knows now with all those fake SS numbers being tossed around. Lil Fred, why could you not take a certified copy of your daughter's birth certificate in to expedite the issuance of a SS card? Hassle, I can imagine, but at least she would receive her card.

When I ordered a birth certificate from CA, I ordered (and paid) for it directly online. When ordering online from Mississippi, they directed me to a form to print out. I filled it out and mailed it to them with a money order (they didn't accept checks).

lil fred, you might want to check the state health dept you are ordering from online.
