Office Depot Inc Informative - Refuse to ship at advertised price
I ordered a Toshiba laptop at 9 am on the Sunday the ad broke, and the Office Depot order system readily accepted it for "one business day delivery". On the following Tuesaday, their system showed a UPS tracking number, and noted "shipped by third party". The tracking number was invalid when used on the UPS site. I contacted OD the next day and they told me by email that the item was discontinued! I called them and they said I could not reorder. A few days later, their automated system told me it had been shipped that Tuesday and gave me that same invalid UPS tracking number! It would allow me to reoder at a higher price! Today, 2 weeks later, I found the same computer back in stock at my local OD - but at the higher price and no rebate (a $250 difference!). No one at OD will give me any information why the order remains open and unshipped. One of the agents acknowledged that "a problem with the ordering system had been reported". I can't believe that they can be so disorganized, but this is similar to an event 2 months before, where they delayed shipment of an item for several weeks while the store stock was replenished, after the sale ended (at a higher selling price, of course. I still have no computer and no information on why the item can't be shipped. This smacks of bait and switch, and is certainly terrible service.
