Eco Electronics Complaint - Eco Electronics: Is this "Professional" Conduct?
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FLORIDA -- This is my account of a very bad experience I've recently had with Eco Electronics, a computer service firm located in
Palm Beach Gardens, Florida that specializes in data recovery.
On March 5, 2002, at about 12:15 PM (Eastern), I phoned Eco Electronics to ask if they'd received my fax. The hurried reply given by the firm's co-owner, Ms. Carole Roover, and my subsequent reflections on it, caused me to doubt if what she'd said was in fact responsive to my specific query. To resolve my uncertainty, I e-mailed Eco at 2:01 PM, requesting written confirmation of my fax's receipt. In explaining why I was bothering them again, I imparted that Roover's rapid speech "doesn't give you the impression she actually _listens_ to what you are saying."
At 2:08 PM Roover called me, complaining I'd insulted the pride she took in her communications ability. I tried defusing this situation by (1) Apologizing if my e-mail was taken as insulting, (2) Explaining that my comments were not intended to insult, but rather, only to convey my belief that a miscommunication may had occurred, and (3) Pointing out that my evaluation of her listening skills was merely an "impression", not an accusation. As the call concluded, she remained angry and implacable. At 3:09 PM, Roover's representative phoned me to announce the rescission of their earlier approval of my service agreement (sent to me by e-mail at 2:05 PM), based on their presumptions about my "unprofessional" conduct.
Their arbitrary, unmerited action has cost me significant amounts of money, time, and aggravation. I ask that this complaint against Eco Electronics be registered as warning to all who may contemplate dealings with this firm.
