Magazines.com Complaint - Magazine subscription company will charge your card without permission

Review by flylanddesigns on 2007-03-06
FRANKLIN, TENNESSEE -- Stop! Before you sign up for a magazine subscription through these guys, be warned: They will automatically renew your subscription and charge your card without permission. They charged over $70 to my card when I didn't respond to e-mails they claimed to have sent me, but I never received.

They do inform you about this in the fine print, though in a very funny way. They call it a no-hassle renewal system. Trouble is, paying for something you don't want is always a hassle.

Shop elsewhere.

They call it "no-hassle renewal" because you don't have to do anything to renew it...BUT it should be called "hassle Cancellation" ... I've always hated when companies do this...If someone wants to renew, let them send the renewal card in...but, it's their way of suckering people into it and they make money...and usually when you do have to notify them to cancel, we don't always remember if it is a 30 day notice or what, from the time we subscribe. If they did have the renewal explained (even if in tiny print),then they did have your permission to charge your card...again, I don't agree with it though.
