Best Buy Complaint - Geek Squad/Customer Care/Sales Person
WINSTON SALEM, NORTH CAROLINA -- While purchasing a new computer, which came with the new Windows Vista operating system, a sales person tried to pressure me to pay the Geek Squad to come to my house for two hours to show me how to use my new computer. When I said I did not need help with it I was told by the sales person that I would not be able to install software on my new computer without help, and if I should happen to hit the wrong key that I would end up with a computer with a useless operating system. He was using scare tactics to sell the Geek Squad. I again told him I did not need help because I had taught computer technology in high school. He gave me some story about how Vista would not even recognize a CD that was inserted into the CD drive, and if it did recognize it that it would not install. Even after I asked him to get my computer he continued to stand there, thinking he was going to change my mind. After using the computer for 5 days, and installing all my software with no problems, I contacted Best Buy and spoke to one of the store managers. He did not deny that they tried to sell the Geek Squad services when they sold a new computer, but did deny that they used pressure tactics. I was not surprised that he denied this. I got no satisfaction from talking to him. I have made my last purchase from Best Buy.
